Rosa is a director and theatre maker based in South London and a Co-Founder of Brick Fox. She studied Acting and Cinematography at the University of Salamanca, English and Drama at Royal Holloway University of London and is currently on the MA Theatre Directing course at Mountview Academy of Dramatic Arts. She is fascinated by the transformative power of the arts, whether that be through time, space, culture or simply the interaction and connection between humans. She wants to specialise in site-specific/ landscape based theatre which looks to the heart of the community to tell the stories of the people and the places which exist with in it.
Assisting credits include The Crucible (The Minack Theatre, 2016), Journeys End (The Minack Theatre, 2016), Town Hall (Camden People’s Theatre, 2018), You & Me (Dan Rebellato and Rebecca McCutcheon, 2020), The Winters Tale (Mountview Academy 2020). Directing credits include Dead Man Talking (Pleasance Theatre 2018), Holy Sh*t (Manchester Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe 2018/2019), Mind the Gap (Boilerhouse Theatre 2019).
My good friend Rosa Higgs is an emerging British Director, currently studying an MA in Directing at Mountview as well as developing outside projects as Executive Director for Brick Fox Theatre Company.
She was generous enough to give me an hour of her time to talk about her experience in directing, how she tackles classic texts as well as new writing, and what a post-Covid theatrical landscape may look like!
