Using verbatim, Sam Pout embodies three young men discussing the impact of dating app Grindr and what sex and relationships mean to the gay community today.
The film was verbatim, meaning that all the words said were taken from conversations I had with gay men during my research process. Most of the quotations below come from such conversations, quotes with a black background were anonymous answers from a questionnaire I shared or from prolific writers which informed the wider context of the film.
The process of researching, writing and directing the film was greatly enlightening as I learned a great deal about the gay community and its evolution through time within the digitalised culture of today.
Alive and Bricking was a screening of six one person short films which was held at The Omnibus Theatre in Clapham, London on the 1st August 2021.
As well as a screening of new work, it was also designed to be a networking event for emerging creatives from all sectors of the arts industry.
